<br /> <br />RESOLUTION 8370 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) <br />TORO GROUND MASTER 4000 MOWERS <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Public Works Department oversees the Park maintenance, and <br />the Parks Department mows over 138 acres of turf weekly during the spring, summer <br />and fall seasons; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Department uses several different mowers to perform the <br />necessary work and some of the mowed turf areas are irrigated, which make the <br />mowing easier on the equipment many areas are not, creating additional wear and tear <br />on the mowers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Staff has inspected the mowers and there are a number of costly <br />2015 repairs required; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it was determined and recommended by the previous Director of <br />Public Works to have these mowers replaced in 2015, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Staff received a quote from MTI Distributing, Inc., of Brooklyn <br />Center, MN for (2) Toro GM 4000 mowers with options such as mulching kits, and road <br />safety lights, the quote for (2) mower’s is $114,423.92, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff also received a quote for trade-in values of $20,775.00 for the <br />2002 Toro Grounds Master and the 2006 Jacobsen 9016 and which also included older <br />equipment that is not in use by the City; a spray foam cart and a cart with a power <br />aerator, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the total mower purchase cost is $93,648.92; $21,351.08 under <br />budget. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br /> <br />1) The City Council approves the purchase of (2) Toro Grounds Master 4000 <br />mowers from MTI Distributing, Inc., of Brooklyn Center, MN, a vendor on the MN <br />Cooperative Purchasing Venture program. <br />2) The City Council accepts the quote from MTI Distributing, Inc. on the trade-in <br />amount of $20,775.00 for the 2002 Toro Grounds Master and the 2006 Jacobsen <br />9016 mowers along with a spray foam cart and a cart with a power aerator. <br />3) The total cost for the new mowers is $93,648.92 to be budgeted from 460-4360- <br />7030. Staff is also requesting a 5% contingency, $4,682.45, for any unforeseen <br />expenditures regarding the implementation of the mowers. <br /> <br />
