Resolution 8400, Approving the Replacement of the Playground Equipment 1 at Groveland Park. 2 3 Interim Public Works Director Peterson requested the Council approve the replacement of the 4 playground equipment at Groveland Park. He indicated the Parks Commission has been 5 reviewing this park and the National Park Institute recommends that all play structures be 6 replaced every 12 to 15 years. He commented that the Groveland Park playground was 20 years 7 old. He reported that Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground was approached to submit a bid on this 8 project. The bid for the Groveland Park playground equipment came in at $40,500 plus 9 installation and site work. The total expense for the park project would be $65,643.63. Staff 10 noted that this was a budgeted item within the 2015 budget and recommended that the Council 11 approve the playground equipment replacement. 12 13 Council Member Mueller asked if the picnic area would be maintained within Groveland Park. 14 Interim Public Works Director Peterson explained that the picnic area would remain. 15 16 Council Member Mueller discussed how the Groveland neighborhood was transitioning to 17 younger families and she believed these new residents would greatly appreciate the new park 18 equipment. 19 20 MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8400, 21 Approving the Replacement of the Playground Equipment at Groveland Park. 22 23 Council Member Meehlhause appreciated the Parks Commission and Public Works Department 24 staff for their efforts on Groveland Park. 25 26 Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 27 28 G. Resolution 8401, Awarding a Construction Contract with Pearson Bros, Inc. 29 for the 2015 Seal Coat Project for Areas A, B, & C. 30 31 Interim Public Works Director Peterson requested the Council award a construction contract with 32 Pearson Brothers, Inc. for the 2015 Seal Coat Project for Areas A, B and C. He stated the City 33 has worked to reconstruct its 26 miles of street while also creating a maintenance program. He 34 reported that in 2015 the City would need to seal coat Areas A, B and C. Bids for this project 35 were requested and Pearson Brothers submitted the low bid of $198,879.75 plus a 10% 36 contingency. Staff recommended the Council award the project to Pearson Brothers. 37 38 Mayor Flaherty requested further information on the seal coating process. Interim Public Works 39 Director Peterson reported a thin layer of oil emulsion would be applied to the road surface and 40 would be covered with crushed granite. He indicated the loose gravel would be swept up within 41 24 hours. 42 43 MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn.
