Mounds View City Council September 28, 2015 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller indicated she was in Mankato last week for the League of Minnesota 1 <br />Cities Board of Directors retreat where top priorities for the Executive Director were discussed. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Council Member Mueller reported 37 years ago she was driving down University Avenue 4 <br />towards south Minneapolis when a car veered into her lane and struck her vehicle head on. She 5 <br />was happy to say she survived that accident and was married in July 36 years ago to her husband 6 <br />Dan, and 35 years ago tomorrow began her career at Target Corporation. Another milestone for 7 <br />her would occur on September 30th, when Groveland Road north of Arden would receive 8 <br />concrete curb and gutter. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Meehlhause noted he attended the Twin Cities Gateway meeting two weeks 11 <br />ago. He noted the 20-minute promotional video created for TCG was now available for viewing. 12 <br />He was pleased to report that Mounds View hotel revenues were up 5% when compared to last 13 <br />year. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Council Member Meehlhause indicated the Mounds View Lions Club would be holding its 16 <br />Annual Spaghetti Feed on Thursday, October 8th at the Kraus-Hartig VFW and the cost would be 17 <br />$9.50 per adult. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Council Member Meehlhause commented he attend an NYFS board meeting last week. He 20 <br />provided further comment on the unmet and emerging needs of the community that could be met 21 <br />by NYFS. He anticipated that this matter would be discussed further by the Council at an 22 <br />upcoming worksession meeting. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Mayor Flaherty stated on Saturday, September 19th he attended the Mounds View Police 25 <br />Department’s Punt, Pass and Kick event. He stated 50 kids signed up for this event and the age 26 <br />group winners would be advancing to further competition. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Mayor Flaherty reported he recently attended a Five Cities meeting with local mayors and was 29 <br />pleased to report that Mounds View had the lowest proposed levy for 2016. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Mayor Flaherty commented he attended a Super Bowl 50 Committee meeting on September 24th. 32 <br />The committee was seeking information from local communities and how it provides safe play 33 <br />and activities for its residents. 34 <br /> 35 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Finance Director Beer provided comment on a memorandum he provided to the Council 38 <br />regarding the water utility fund. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Acting City Administrator Crane reviewed the upcoming worksession agenda with the Council. 41 <br />She was proud to report that the City has received its first volunteer application. She encouraged 42 <br />all others interested in volunteering with the City to contact City Hall. 43 <br /> 44
