<br /> <br />RESOLUTION 8481 <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br /> <br />Authorizing the Purchase of a V-Panel 8’x6’Aluminum Shoring/Trench Box <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is responsible for the repair water main <br />breaks; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this type of work involves excavation of soils that require a shoring/trench <br />box to be positioned; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, more private utilities are being buried underground and this has made <br />excavating and placement of a standard rigid-side shoring/trench box more difficult; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a V-Panel trench box will help to reduce the size of the excavation area and <br />provide for a safer work environment for the Public Works Staff <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Staff has obtained quotes for new a 8’x6’ V-Panel Aluminum shoring/trench <br />box; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the low quote being from Kundel Industries of Vienna, Ohio for a total of <br />$8,804.64 which includes freight. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, $14,500.00 is in the 2015 Water Enterprise Fund Budget, 700-4328-7030, <br />for a new trench box. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, <br />Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br /> <br />Public Works Staff is authorized to purchase one 8’x6’ V-Panel Aluminum Box with 2 open <br />ends, four (4)-52”/88” telescoping beams, one (1) 4 leg 5’ polyester sling from Kundel Industries <br />of Vienna Ohio, at a cost of $8,804.64.
