Mounds View City Council October 26, 2015 Regular Meeting Page 6 Council Member Meehlhause reported on Thursday, October 29, 2015 the drug prevention forum 1 would be held at the Mounds View High School from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 2 3 Council Member Meehlhause indicated on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Mounds View 4 Community Center there would be a family fun party for Halloween from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 5 p.m. In addition, the Lion’s would be hosting a free waffle breakfast from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. 6 7 Council Member Meehlhause commented he would be attending a YMCA advisory committee 8 meeting on Monday, November 2, 2015. 9 10 Council Member Mueller stated the local economies draft policies was distributed to member 11 communities by the League of Minnesota Cities for review. Edits will go before the legislature 12 in January. 13 14 Mayor Flaherty explained he served on the Finance Committee for the North Suburban Cable 15 Commission and this group would be discussing the 2016 budget on Tuesday evening. 16 17 Mayor Flaherty provided further comment on the City’s 2015 tax burden as provided by the 18 North Metro Mayor’s Association. He was pleased to report that the City had the second lowest 19 tax burden when compared to neighboring communities. 20 21 B. Reports of Staff. 22 23 Finance Director Beer was pleased to report that cameras had been installed on Silver View Park 24 and on the water treatment plant for security purposes. 25 26 Public Works Director Erickson indicated he attended a meeting last Thursday regarding the Met 27 Council North Area Interceptor Phase V project. Questions were answered by the project 28 manager and staff members present. He commented work on this project would begin soon as 29 the project completion date was August 31, 2016. 30 31 Public Works Director Erickson explained staff continued to prepare for Area I and anticipated 32 that this item would be coming before the Council in the near future. 33 34 Public Works Director Erickson commented the Silver View Park Trail easement discussions 35 continue. He reported that Dr. Levitan still had some concerns and both legal counsel’s would be 36 connecting to resolve these concerns. 37 38 Council Member Gunn asked what was going on along County Road I. Public Works Director 39 Erickson reported that a portion of the sewer pipes were being relined. He apologized for the fact 40 that the contractor did not adhere to the City specified work hours. 41 42 City Administrator Ericson reported the City sent out a flyer in the recent utility bills regarding 43 an upcoming survey that addressed the topic of organized collection. Additional information 44 regarding this matter and the survey would be included in the next Mounds View Matters. 45
