Mounds View City Council November 9, 2015 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller indicated on Thursday, November 19th the League of Minnesota Cities 1 <br />Board would be making recommendations on the local economies policy adoption. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Council Member Mueller stated the Ramsey County Dispatch systems were now all live and she 4 <br />was proud to report there was no interruption to services. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Meehlhause congratulated Val Johnson on being elected Mayor of New 7 <br />Brighton. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Meehlhause explained he would be attending a strategic planning session on 10 <br />Thursday, November 12th for NYFS. He thanked the Council for their input at the recent 11 <br />worksession meeting. 12 <br /> 13 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Public Works Director Erickson provided the Council with an update on the work taking place in 16 <br />Area H of the street improvement project. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Council Member Mueller requested the bicycle lane on the newly paved Groveland Road be 19 <br />painted and striped yet this fall for safety purposes. Public Works Director Erickson commented 20 <br />he would speak to the contractor regarding this matter. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Council Member Mueller questioned when the Groveland playground would be open for 23 <br />children. Public Works Director Erickson anticipated that the playground would be open once 24 <br />the scrap materials were removed. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Council Member Mueller suggested the City consider having a small ice skating rink at 27 <br />Groveland Park given the large number of families surrounding this park. Public Works Director 28 <br />Erickson stated he would look into the feasibility of this skating rink. 29 <br /> 30 <br />Public Works Director Erickson provided the Council with an update on the North Area 31 <br />Interceptor project. He stated Lametti & Sons have begun work. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Mayor Flaherty requested that the pumps be insulated as much as possible while working. Public 34 <br />Works Director Erickson stated he would pass this information along to the contractor. 35 <br /> 36 <br />City Administrator Ericson discussed the City’s website and noted it has been in place since 37 <br />2007. He reported the City spent $3,500 to convert the website and the City has been 38 <br />maintaining this cost effective model since that time. He reviewed the amount of money that 39 <br />some cities are spending to create new websites and anticipated it would cost the City $20,000 to 40 <br />$30,000 to upgrade the City’s website. He questioned how the Council wanted to proceed with 41 <br />the City’s website. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Council Member Gunn wanted to see the City upgrade its website and made more user friendly. 44 <br /> 45
