Item Title/Subject: Discuss Public Works Restructuring
Item No: 5
Administrator Review:
Background
With the recent retirement announcement by the long -employed Parks Supervisor and subsequent
vacant management -level position that his departure will leave, Public Works is proposing a
restructuring of the department to address deficiencies in personnel and to increase the effectiveness in
providing the many essential services devolved upon the department. This restructuring proposal will
align the department to best achieve the City's Mission Statement "to provide high quality public services
that effectively address changing citizen and community needs in a fiscally responsible and customer -
friendly manner." In addition, the core values included in the City's Values Statement, which "guide the
day-to-day activities of City personnel" and "are fundamental to the City's success and fulfillment of its
mission", will be bolstered by implementing this restructuring plan.
