Item No: 813 <br />_ Meeting Date: January 13, 2014 <br />MO7 T*mC VIj Type of Business: Consent Aaenda <br />VNDS Administrator Review: <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Public Works Supervisor <br />Item Title/Subject: Tractor Resolution <br />or the Public Works Departurent <br />on of the Purchase of an AEBI <br />Clarification: <br />As requested by City Council, Staff is bringing forth a staff report presented on July 22, <br />2013, in which the City Council approved a 2014 purchase of a demo AEBI tractor, new <br />Seppi mower and new Batwing Mower deck for formal approval. <br />Background: <br />ss repart of thesponsibleforblic Worksmowing 170 acepare seof parkllandance along the <br />Dartment of 6 ice <br />skating rinks. <br />The Street Department maintains 15 miles of trails which include rough cutting the <br />edges in the growing months and snow removal in the winter months. <br />The Strm Water <br />ntinues to <br />with each street project) and 10 regiartment has onal infiltration <br />ponds of which half are count <br />rugh out once a year• <br />In order to accomplish these tasks, the Public Works Department has used various <br />mowers and tractors in the past. In 2002 Staff assessed the possibility of purchasing a <br />more versatile piece of equipment that would include handling the steep banks and tight <br />areas that are required to be mowed. Staff discovered that the AEBI Terratrac TT70 <br />was far more versatile than the Ford New Holland 4360 that was being utilized in the <br />Public Works Department at the time. In 2003 the City purchased an AEBI Terratrac <br />TT70, and then in 2005 an additional AEBI was purchased. <br />
