Item 06A <br />Arbor Day Proclamation <br />April 22, 2013 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />OFFICE OF THE MAYOR <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Arbor Day was first observed in 1872 with the planting of more than a million <br />trees in Nebraska and is now observed throughout the nation and the world; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View has been recognized for 30 consecutive years as a <br />Tree City USA Community by the National Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to <br />urban forestry; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, trees in our city beautify our surroundings, increase property values, shade <br />our parks and residences, reduce storm water runoff, reduce energy use, enhance the <br />economic vitality of business areas and promote healthier communities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City will be planting shade trees in Silver View Park with members of the <br />Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department on April 25th, 2013. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joe Flaherty, Mayor of the City of Mounds View, do hereby <br />proclaim Thursday, April 25th, 2013 as <br />“ARBOR DAY” <br />in the City of Mounds View, and I urge all citizens to celebrate Arbor Day and to support <br />efforts to protect our trees and woodlands; and <br /> <br />FURTHER, I urge all citizens to plant trees to promote the well-being of this and future <br />generations. <br /> <br />Given under my hand and Seal of the City of Mounds View, this 22nd day of April, 2013. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />(SEAL) <br /> Joe Flaherty, Mayor
