Item No: 07G Meeting Date: May 13, 2013 Type of Business: CB Administrator Review : ____ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Administrator Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8100, Appointing a Planning and Zoning Commissioner to Fill the Remaining Term of One Vacated Position Background: Jean Miller resigned as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Staff advertised for Ms. Miller’s seat, and received three (3) applications. The Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the attached applications at their last meeting. Discussion: The Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the applications and voted by ballot. The results were the following: Keith Cramblit 3 votes Julianne Love 3 votes Valerie Amundsen 1 vote The Planning and Zoning Commission were not able to come to a consensus on who to recommend to this commission. According to the Mounds View City Code §401.02, subd 1, the Planning and Zoning Commission shall consist of seven (7) members from the resident population of Mounds View, other than person elected to a public body, to be appointed by the City Council, and based on the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission, from the applications submitted. The Planning and Zoning Commission is requesting that the City Council appoint either Keith Cramblit or Julianne Love to fill Ms. Miller’s vacated seat. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the City Council review the attached applications and make the determination on whom to appoint to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
