MPCA is offering the services of three retired <br />environmental professionals from the MPCA's <br />Retiree Environmental Technical Assistance <br />Program - RETAP. They would work up to <br />approximately 40 hours per registered GreenStep <br />city (including cities in the process of submitting a <br />resolution to their city council). <br />If your city could use this assistance, please <br />contact Philipp Muessig, GreenStep Coordinator, to <br />discuss further: 651/757-2594 or <br />philipp.muessig@state.mn.us <br />10 -toMinnesota <br />GreenStep itis <br />www MnGreenStep.org <br />Assistance would focus on one or more of the following tasks. <br />An inventory of past city accomplishments and planned actions: <br />Interviews with city staff and others <br />Documentation of which GreenStep best practice actions have been completed and which <br />are in the planning/implementation stage <br />Either entry of this information onto the GreenStep web site or preparation for another <br />person to do this <br />Recommendations for completing a few high -impact best practice actions. <br />® Either begin to help the city plan, and/or help the city bring in expert help <br />Recommendations on sustainability indicators. <br />® Explore what metrics are gathered currently and what a suite of sustainability indicators <br />might look like <br />Rick person was Program Administrator for Waste Management and Recycling, and Right -of -Way <br />Management for the St. Paul Department of Public Works for 29 years. He coordinated the city's <br />Environmental/Economic Partnership Project and Urban CO2 Reduction Plan as a member of the <br />Sustainable Saint Paul Working Group. He is currently serving on the City of St. Louis Park Planning <br />Commission. Rick has worked on RETAP projects for the cities of Woodbury, Stillwater, <br />Maplewood, and Shorewood, as well as the Como Zoo and Conservatory, Metro Transit, Institute <br />for Agriculture and Trade Policy, and Dodge County. <br />Michael ®range served Minneapolis as a city planner and environmental manager (1976-2007) <br />and wrote the first draft of the Minneapolis Sustainability Plan. Since leaving the city, he has <br />prepared a zoning analysis for the city of St. Paul, a recycling study for the city of Farmington, and <br />carbon baseline assessments for 5 metro cities and Washington County. The sustainability <br />assessment he prepared for the city of West St. Paul formed the basis for subsequent work to <br />integrate sustainability into that city's zoning ordinance. He teaches a graduate -level course, <br />Sustainable City Planning, at MSU -Mankato. <br />Don Graves has 2.6 years of experience teaching biology and environmental science in the <br />Minnesota community college system and was a 2007 recipient of Minnesota State Colleges and <br />Universities' Board of Trustees Award for Teaching Excellence. As Sustainability Coordinator at <br />Hibbing Community College, Don initiated and oversees the American College and University <br />Presidents Climate Commitment initiative and works at promoting sustainability across the five <br />colleges of the Northeast Higher Education District. A recent addition to RETAP's Community <br />Sustainability Assistance program, Don works with communities and governments to undertake <br />actions that promotesustainability. <br />
