RESOLUTION 8117 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A <br />NEW ELECTRONIC MESSAGE SIGN FOR CITY HALL <br />WHEREAS, on November 14, 2005, the City Council approved Resolution 6671 <br />for a retrofit of the electronic message sign from AIM Electronics in the amount of <br />34,980.57; and <br />WHEREAS, the existing sign is outdated and malfunctioning, necessitating a <br />replacement; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2013, City staff requested quotes from ten sign vendors for a sign <br />containing a higher resolution LED display allowing for three lines of text plus a new <br />stone base; and <br />WHEREAS, City staff received quotes from six sign vendors; and <br />WHEREAS, after meticulous comparison of the quotes received including ample <br />correspondence with each sign vendor, City staff recommended that a new electronic <br />message sign with a stone base be purchased from DeMars Signs (Coon Rapids, MN) <br />in an amount not to exceed $60,000. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council <br />does hereby approve the purchase of a new electronic message sign for City Hall from <br />DeMars Signs in an amount not to exceed $60,000 to be paid for using the Special <br />Projects Fund 480-4180-7030. <br />Adopted this 8th day of July, 2013. <br />Joe Flaherty, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />James Ericson, City Administrator <br />SEAL)
