Item No: 07A Meeting Date: January 9, 2012 Type of Business: CB City Administrator: _____ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Administrator Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7879, Approving Appointments of Dave Long (Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission), Dale Aukee, (Chairperson of the Parks, Recreation Forestry Commission), and Tony Hoffman (Streets and Utilities Committee) Background: On December 12, 2011, the City Council approved appointments to various City Commissions and Committees. At that time, Dave Long (Park, Recreation, Forestry Commission) and Tony Hoffman (Streets and Utilities Committee) had term seats expiring on December 31, 2011, and did not wish to reapply for their seats. This left one vacant seat on the Park, Recreation and Forestry Commission, and one vacant seat on the Streets and Utilities Committee. In accordance with the City Code, the City Council is required to approve a Chairperson to the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Commission. Discussion: After the December 12, 2011, City Council Meeting, Dave Long and Tony Hoffman reconsidered and submitted applications to be reappointed to their respective seats. Attached are their applications for your review. At the last Park, Recreation and Forestry Commission Meeting, the Commission made a motion to appoint Dale Aukee as Chairperson. In accordance with the City Code, the City Council is required to approve the appointment of a Chairperson to the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission. Recommendation: Staff recommends approval of Resolution 7879, approving the reappointments and approving Dale Aukee as Chairperson of the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission.
