Resolution 7916, Approving Contracts for Tree Removal and Trimming Services
March 12, 2012
Page 2
The City has favorable past experience with each tree contractor, and each has licensed arborists
on staff and possess the equipment and ability to perform the work. All work direction and
inspection is done by the City’s Forestry Consultant, Mr. Rick Wriskey.

Each budget cycle includes monies for tree removal and trimming services. The 2012 adopted
Budget includes $28,000 for removing or treating trees in the Forestry fund (100-4380-3520), and
$9,000 in the Forestry fund (100-4380-3030) and $2,000 in the Parks Fund (100-4360-3030) for
tree trimming activities.

Recommendation:
City staff recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving contracts with
4 Seasons Tree Care and Upper Cut Tree Services for tree removal and trimming services. If
adopted, an independent contractor agreement will be prepared with each contractor at the quoted
prices for both vehicular and non-vehicular access tree removals, as well as tree trimming. City
staff will utilize the lowest quote price for routine work, but in the event that the City needs more
than one contractor (e.g., storm damage), the City has the ability to have both contractors
performing work at a predetermined price.

Respectfully submitted,

Nick DeBar - Public Works Director

Attachments:
• Resolution 7916
