Item No: 07F <br /> Meeting Date: May 29,2012 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Public Works Supervisor <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7953, Approving Purchase of Chemical Feed <br />Pumps <br /> <br /> <br />Background/Discussion: <br /> <br />The Public Works Department has many responsibilities and one is to efficiently operate <br />the water distribution system. <br /> <br />In each of the water treatment plants are chemicals used to disinfect the water and add <br />fluoride to the water system. Chemical pumps are in each plant to inject these <br />chemicals into the water system. In their concentrated state these chemicals are harsh <br />to the components in the pumps. <br /> <br />Staff has received three quotes for replacement pumps and automatic switch over <br />valves with ¾” injectors and these would be installed at water treatment plants #5 and <br />#6. The low quote is from Vessco Inc., from Chanhassen MN, in the amount of <br />$9,267.30. The quote includes freight to Public Works but not sales tax or service from <br />the vendor. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends the purchase of (2) Chlorinators, (2) Sulphonators, (4) injectors and <br />(4) automatic switch over systems, each having two (2) vacuum ASOV valves, from <br />Vessco in the amount of $9,267.30 which includes freight but not sales tax nor service <br />from the vendor.
