Mounds View City Council April 23, 2012 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br /> <br />Finance Director Beer indicated the City’s building official/fire marshal has taken a position with 1 <br />the State. He reviewed the proposed modifications to the position description and requested the 2 <br />Council authorize advertisement of this position. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Mayor Flaherty returned to the Council Chambers. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Mueller questioned if the City had a person on staff that currently met the job 7 <br />qualifications. City Administrator Ericson indicated there was no one on staff that met these 8 <br />requirements. He stated future candidates will not be required to be a certified fire marshal. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Mueller asked how the position would be advertised. City Administrator 11 <br />Ericson stated there would be a posting with the League of Minnesota Cities, the Star Tribune, 12 <br />and be posted on the City’s website. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Mayor Flaherty inquired how the City would address its building official needs until the position 15 <br />was filled. City Administrator Ericson indicated he has been speaking with neighboring 16 <br />communities for assistance in this area. He would be bringing a plan before the Council in the 17 <br />near future. 18 <br /> 19 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7931, 20 <br />Authorizing Advertisement for the Building Official Position. 21 <br /> 22 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 23 <br /> 24 <br />E. Resolution 7929, Appointing MMKR to Provide Auditing Services for the 25 <br />Years Ended December 31, 2012, 2013, 2014. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Finance Director Beer stated with the conclusion of the 2011 audit the City’s contract with 28 <br />MMKR has expired. He commented the 2011 audit would be presented to the Council on May 29 <br />8th. Staff then requested MMKR be appointed to provide the City with auditing services for the 30 <br />years ending December 31, 2012, 2013 and 2014. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Council Member Mueller asked if the City had an idea of how MMKR’s pricing was in 33 <br />comparison to what other communities were paying. Finance Director Beer anticipated MMKR 34 <br />was charging less than what other communities were paying. 35 <br /> 36 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Stigney/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7929, 37 <br />Appointing MMKR to Provide Auditing Services for the Years Ended December 31, 2012, 2013, 38 <br />2014. 39 <br /> 40 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 41 <br /> 42 <br />F. Resolution 7930, Authorizing Barr Engineering Company to Provide 43 <br />Services for Part 2 of the Wellhead Protection Plan. 44 <br /> 45
