Item No:7C
Meeting Date: June 25, 2012
Type of Business: Council Business
Administrator Review: ____

City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Don Peterson, Public Works Supervisor
Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7962, Approving the Purchase of a 2012 Ford F350
Pickup Truck from Midway Ford

Background/Discussion:

As part of the Public Works Department’s maintenance program, service trucks are purchased for
the specific division that will perform the needed maintenance and inspections required for
infrastructure operation and maintenance. The Public Works Department has a number of pickup
trucks used for a variety of uses. Truck #135 a 2000 Ford 250 is assigned to the Street department
and has been used as the primary plow truck for the parking lots, sidewalks and trials. Over the life
of the truck repairs have been minimal, however last winter staff noticed that the transmission was
starting to slip as the truck was used for plowing. An inspection of the truck was completed and as
the pictures show major rust in the doors and rear vendors is apparent. At that point staff started
looking into replacing unit #135.
