The probability of extreme temperatures occurring in the future is <br />relatively low based on previous data. The entire county is at risk of extreme temperature events. Extreme <br />temperatures affect Ramsey County equally and uniformly. <br />Hazard Summary <br />Extreme temperatures have occurred across the entire of Ramsey County area. Extreme temperature <br />effects are seen in different regions and vary depending on normal meteorological conditions such as <br />either extreme heat or extreme cold. Extreme temperatures are possible throughout the planning area, with <br />the northern portion of the state being susceptible for extreme cold temperatures during the winter months <br />of the year. <br />4.3.1.6 Hailstorms <br />Hazard Identification <br />Hail is a form of precipitation composed of spherical lumps of ice. Known as hailstones, these ice balls <br />typically range from 5-50 mm in diameter on average, with much larger hailstones forming in severe <br />thunderstorms. The size of hailstones is a direct function of the severity and size of the storm.
