<br />RISK AND VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT <br />Ramsey County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan | July 2012 4-37 <br />Hazard Profile <br />Ramsey County includes a number of areas that are susceptible to rockslides, including the Mississippi <br />River Bluffs. During the public meetings, Ramsey County residents identified that a rockslide occurred at <br />the B&B Bakery in late March of 2011. <br />Assets Exposed to Hazard <br />Assets in close proximity to areas with slopes are susceptible to being affected by a rockslide. <br />Additionally, rockslides can damage buildings and infrastructure as well as block roads and transportation <br />routes, which could impact the entire county. <br />Damage Assessment <br />During public meetings, county residents identified that the B&B Bakery experienced a rockslide in late <br />March of 2011. <br />Land Use and Development Trends <br />There are no land use and development trends related to rockslides. <br />Vulnerability <br />Rockslide <br />Frequency of Occurrence Unlikely <br />Warning Time None <br />Geographic Extent Localized areas <br />Potential Impact Minor to moderate <br />Multijurisdictional Concerns <br />Certain areas of the County are susceptible to rockslides, but in some cases, the entire county could be <br />impacted if critical roads or transportation routes become blocked by an occurrence. <br />Hazard Summary <br />The likelihood of a rockslide in Ramsey County is considered low. The most recent occurrence of a <br />rockslide within the County occurred in March 2011. <br />4.3.6 Epidemics/Pandemics <br />Hazard Identification <br />A widespread epidemic/pandemic incident is a plausible incident in Ramsey County. Epidemic/pandemic <br />incidents are a danger to emergency responders, healthcare providers, schools, and the public. This can <br />include influenza (e.g., H5N1), Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), or biological incidents <br />without an available vaccine or treatment. Bioterrorism incidents are also included in this identified <br />hazard area. <br />Hazard Profile <br />Seasonal influenza comes to Ramsey County every winter, usually between October and March. <br />Influenza is a specific viral infection that is responsible for a substantial number of hospitalizations and <br />deaths. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates 36,000 excess deaths are caused
