<br />Section 5 <br />5-10 Ramsey County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan | July 2012 <br /> <br />Responsible Organization Various Fire Departments <br />Coordinating Organization Ramsey County Emergency Management and Homeland Security <br />Time Line 2012–ongoing <br />Funding Sources None <br />Multijurisdictional Considerations. Wildfires have affected all areas of Ramsey County. All of the <br />cities and townships in Ramsey County should participate in wildfire related mitigation activities. <br />Public Information and Awareness Strategies. The Ramsey County Hazard Mitigation Steering <br />Committee has identified and implemented public awareness campaigns to ensure that the citizens of <br />Ramsey County are kept abreast of the hazards affecting them and the mitigation efforts to reduce the <br />effects of potential wildfire situations. These include ordinances for the enforcement of outdoor burning <br />bans. <br />5.2.6 All-Hazards <br />Mitigation Goals. Ramsey County follows an all-hazards approach to community planning. There are <br />many mitigation projects, which can positively influence the outcomes of any natural disaster; these <br />projects are described in this section. <br />Range of Mitigation Goals. All-hazards mitigation goals cover a wide variety of areas. There is a great <br />need in Ramsey County for countywide National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident <br />Command System (ICS) training and planning for all-hazards in Ramsey County. <br />Mitigation Strategies for All Hazards: <br /> Mitigation Goal #1 - To minimize the losses of life and property due to all natural hazards in <br />Ramsey County. <br /> Mitigation Goal #2 - To provide training to all department heads and staff in the Basic NIMS/ICS <br />courses. <br /> Mitigation Goal #3 - To provide continuing education of NIMS/ICS to all emergency response <br />agencies in Ramsey County. <br /> Mitigation Goal #4 - To provide education and training to all City Mayors and Councils on <br />emergency preparedness (Public Safety) within Ramsey County. <br /> Mitigation Goal #5 - To ensure computer operations for city and county infrastructure. <br /> Mitigation Goal #6 - To identify access alternatives for neighborhoods with single access points. <br /> Mitigation Goal #7 - To develop and further enhance GIS throughout Ramsey County. <br /> Mitigation Goal #8 - To improve disaster training for all volunteers. <br /> Mitigation Goal #9 - Update notification and warning siren system in Ramsey County. <br /> Mitigation Goal #10 - To effectively communicate emergency preparedness information to all <br />Ramsey County residents (including, non-English speaking, special needs populations, day cares, <br />etc.). <br /> Objective #1 - To protect people and property from the effects of all potential hazards in Ramsey <br />County.
