Epidemic/pandemic events have occurred throughout Ramsey <br />County through the years. <br />Public Information and Awareness Strategies. The Ramsey County Multijurisdictional Hazard <br />Mitigation Planning Committee has identified public awareness campaigns to ensure that the citizens of <br />Ramsey County are kept abreast of the hazards affecting them and the mitigation efforts to alleviate <br />potential situations. <br />5.3 Technological Hazard Mitigation Goals and Objectives <br />Hazard materials release was identified in Section 4 as a potential risk to the community. The <br />Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee has identified and will work toward <br />implementation of the following goals and objectives that will reduce Ramsey County’s vulnerability to <br />technological hazards. <br />5.3.1 Hazardous Materials Release <br />Mitigation Goals. A hazardous materials release is identified as a technological hazard in our <br />community. Historical trends suggest that there will be approximately one major hazardous material <br />incident in the County during any given year. This includes both fixed facility and transportation related <br />incidents. <br />Range of Mitigation Options. The identified mitigation strategies for hazardous materials include <br />ensuring that first responders are trained and equipped to effectively and efficiently respond to the <br />incident. Additionally, to work in partnership with industry to plan an effective response strategy to <br />hazardous materials incidents <br />Mitigation Strategy for Hazardous Materials Spills: <br /> Mitigation Goal #1 - To minimize the losses of lives, property, and damage to the environment due <br />to hazardous materials spills in Ramsey County. <br /> Goal #1 - To protect the people, property, and the environment from the effects of hazardous <br />materials spills in Ramsey County.
