<br />Item No: 7C <br />Meeting Date: August 13, 2012 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review : ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Thomas Kinney, Chief of Police <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7976 Adopting the Ramsey County All-Hazard <br />Mitigation Plan <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The County of Ramsey Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is <br />participating in the all-hazard mitigation planning process as established under the <br />Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 Pub. L. 106-390. This act requires that all cities develop <br />and maintain all-hazard mitigation plans either independently or on a County wide <br />multijurisdictional basis. These plans must be well integrated and coordinated to <br />account for the fact that hazards in one jurisdiction impact on other nearby jurisdictions. <br /> <br />The Ramsey County Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security has <br />indicated its willingness to coordinate these efforts by drafting the plan which will be <br />shared with all municipalities in Ramsey County. All cities in Ramsey County have or <br />will be adopting this plan. <br /> <br />It is necessary to adopt this plan in order for the City of Mounds View and the County of <br />Ramsey to be eligible to receive Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) project <br />grants. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends council approve the resolution authorizing the adoption of the <br />countywide hazard mitigation plan. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />__________________ <br />Thomas Kinney <br />Chief of Police <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
