Between the
time of May 28- June 30, the K-9 team has
participated in 10 deployments. These
deployments consisted of public demonstrations,
building searches, alarms, and the city council
swearing in ceremony. One situation was a
warrant arrest in which the suspect ran out the back door in an attempt to elude officers. The
suspect eventually gave himself up to Niko after several orders to surrender were
announced.

On Monday, June 25th, 2012, Officer Erickson
and Niko did a demonstration for a group of young
children at a local day care.

The K-9 team conducts daily trainings that include
other Mounds View officers so all are accustomed
to working with a K-9 team. The entire department
is excited about the new opportunities that emerge
with having a K-9 team as part of the department.
If you would like more information about the K-9
unit or would like to make a donation to help cover
the cost of training and care please contact the
police department at 763-717-4070.
