The City is currently in the design phase of the project and would like your input on the street configuration of Edgewood Drive. The City invites you to attend a short presentation by engineering staff at the next Streets and Utilities Committee meeting to learn more about the street design options and allow the public an opportunity to ask questions and provide any feedback, input, or suggestions. The meeting details are as follows: EDGEWOOD DRIVE DESIGN PRESENTATION 7:00 P.M. – MONDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2012 MOUNDS VIEW CITY HALL – 2401 CO. HIGHWAY 10 Background/Purpose: The street width and lane configuration for Edgewood Drive is being evaluated because it is considered a non-standard street according to the City’s Street and Utility Improvement Program. Edgewood Drive is also being considered for pedestrian and bicycle accommodations in accordance with the City’s Comprehensive Plan. After the presentation and public input, the Streets and Utilities Committee is expected to make a recommendation which will be forwarded to the City Council for their consideration. Design Considerations: Edgewood Drive will be fully reconstructed with a new asphalt pavement section and vertical concrete barrier curbs. City engineering staff has provided design options for street width, lane configuration, and pedestrian/bicycle accommodations. A parking lane is being recommended on the west side (City Hall Park side) with consideration for additional on-street parking on the east side of the street. Recommended options for pedestrian/bicycle accommodations include either: 1) a multi-use trail, or 2) a sidewalk. The trail and sidewalk are proposed to be in the west boulevard (adjacent to the parking lane) on the City Hall Park side of the street. If a trail option is selected, the trail is proposed to be extended to the intersection of Edgewood Drive and County Road 10.
