8 <br /> <br /> <br />Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />During the third quarter, efforts by officers of The Mounds View Police Department <br />produced the following results during the noted scheduled events: <br /> <br />1. The seven days of speed occurred during the weekends in July resulting in 68 <br />speeding citations. <br />2. A DWI saturation over the Labor Day period produced 6 DWI arrests. <br />3. Eight different high visibility events throughout areas in Ramsey County resulted <br />in 9 DWI arrests of motorists. <br />September 30, 2012 officially ended the fiscal grant year for the 2011-12 traffic safety <br />initiative grant period. The final statistics for the 2011-12 grant period in Ramsey County <br />by all participating agencies are as follows: <br /> <br />• Total hours worked: 8293 <br />• Total Traffic Stops: 15,789 <br />• Citations Issued: 10,916 <br />• DWI arrests: 533 <br />The new 2012-13 grant period awards $41,546.00 to the Mounds View Police <br />Department, which is a 5% increase over this past year. Due to the increased funds, 5 <br />additional DWI saturations will be scheduled throughout the county and 3 additional <br />speed enforcement periods in November, March and June. These continued strong <br />efforts by officers are making the roads safer for every motorist! <br />
