To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7752, 1 <br />Authorizing Step Wage Adjustment for Nick DeBar, Public Works Director, and Don Peterson, 2 <br />Public Works Supervisor, adjusting Nick DeBar’s year of hire to 2009. 3 <br /> 4 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 5 <br /> 6 <br />B. Resolution 7753, Appointing Jean Miller as the 2010 Citizen of the Year. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane explained the Citizen of the Year award honors residents 9 <br />invested in the community. The City received five nominations this year for Citizen of the Year 10 <br />and two were for the same individual. After discussing this item in detail at the March 7th 11 <br />Council works session, the Council agreed to appoint Jean Miller the 2010 Citizen of the Year. 12 <br />Ms. Miller would be presented with this award at the April 18th Town Hall meeting. Staff read 13 <br />the resolution in full and recommended appointing Jean Miller 2010 Citizen of the Year. 14 <br /> 15 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Adopt Resolution 7753, Appointing Jean Miller as the 16 <br />2010 Citizen of the Year. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Acting Mayor Mueller congratulated Ms. Miller and thanked all the nominees for their dedication 19 <br />to the community. 20 <br /> 21 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 22 <br /> 23 <br />C. Resolution 7754, Approving the Hire of Agnes Quasabart to the Position of 24 <br />Accountant in the Finance Department. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane indicated Mary Tatarek would be retiring after 30+ years of 27 <br />working for the City. Her last day of employment would be April 22, 2011. At the January 24th 28 <br />Council meeting the Council directed staff to fill this position prior to Ms. Tatarek’s retirement 29 <br />to allow for valuable training for the incumbent. Staff advertised for the open position and 30 <br />received 80+ applications. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Assistant City Administrator Crane noted interviews were held and the consensus of staff was to 33 <br />recommend the Council hire Agnes Quasabart for the position of Accountant in the Finance 34 <br />Department starting at Step 1 of the pay grade. Employment would begin March 29th. 35 <br /> 36 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7754, 37 <br />Approving the Hire of Agnes Quasabart to the Position of Accountant in the Finance 38 <br />Department. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated he spoke with Staff to inquire if this position could be 41 <br />outsourced. Finance Director Beer explained that this position required a great deal of detailed 42 <br />internal processing and it would be difficult to train an outside firm. 43 <br /> 44 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 45
