RESOLUTION 7770 CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW COUNTY OF RAMSEY STATE OF MINNESOTA AUTHORIZING THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE ENGINEERING/GIS INTERN POSITION WHEREAS, the City Council first approved the Public Works Intern position on May 8, 2006 (Resolution 6807) in an effort to better serve the citizens of Mounds View, to meet the goals set by the City Council, and to enable the Public Works Department to administer activities associated with public improvement projects; and WHEREAS, the City Council approved a revised Public Works Intern position description and title from “Engineering Intern” to “Engineering/GIS Intern” on September 8, 2010 (Resolution 7475) to better meet the current and future needs required of the position; and WHEREAS, the Engineering/GIS Intern has resigned and the position was vacated on March 7, 2011; and WHEREAS, rehiring the Engineering/GIS Intern will provide the much-needed skilled help for daily public works activities, while providing assistance in meeting long- term goals and objectives and regulatory mandates in a cost-effective manner. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: 1. The Engineering/GIS Intern position is approved for part-time hours (up to 15 hours per week) and full-time hours during summer and holiday breaks (up to 40 hours per week) at an initial hourly rate of $11.75 without benefits, with the possibility of an increase to $12.50 per hour after twelve months of continuous employment and a satisfactory performance evaluation. 2. Staff is hereby authorized to advertise for the Engineering/GIS Intern position, interview selected candidates, and present a finalist to the City Council for consideration.
