Item No: 08A Meeting Date: April 11, 2011 Type of Business: CA Administrator Review : ____ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Administrator Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7769, Authorizing Severance Payment to Kenneth Roberts, Community Development Director Background In accordance with Resolution 7760, the last day of employment for Mr. Roberts is April 11, 2011, and the last day of work was March 28, 2011. This was also specified in the Notice of Layoff provided to Mr. Roberts. Discussion Resolution 7769 provides for a payout of Mr. Roberts’ time into his Retirement Health Savings Plan. In accordance with the Mounds View Personnel Manual, Mr. Roberts is authorized a sick time payout totaling $5,329.73 to his Retirement Health Savings Plan. This is calculated as 244.82 accrued sick hours times 50% times his hourly rate of $43.54. Resolution 7769 provides for a payout of Mr. Roberts’ vacation time. In accordance with the Mounds View Personnel Manual, Mr. Roberts is authorized a vacation time payout totaling $2,893.23. This is calculated as 66.45 times his hourly rate of $43.54. Resolution 7769 further authorizes a Floating Holiday payout in accordance with Resolution 7760 (attached) in the amount of $348.32. This is calculated as 8 hours times his hourly rate of $43.54. In addition, and in accordance with Resolution 7760, Mr. Roberts is authorized a severance payment of one week’s pay for each completed year of service, which is two weeks or 80 hours at a severance payment of $3,483.20. This is calculated at 80 hours times his hourly rate of $43.54. Recommendation Staff recommends approving Resolution 7769 in accordance with the Mounds View Personnel Manual and attached Resolution 7760.
