<br />Item No: 07A <br />Meeting Date: May 9, 2011 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />Administrator Review : ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 7775, Authorizing Severance Payment to Mary <br />Tatarek, Mounds View Accountant <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Mary Tatarek has retired as the Accountant effective April 22, 2011. Attached is Resolution <br />7775, which authorizes severance to Ms. Tatarek in accordance with the 2010-2011 <br />AFSCME Labor Agreement. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Resolution 7775 provides for a payout of Ms. Tatarek’s vacation time into her Retirement <br />Health Savings Plan (RHS). In accordance with the AFSCME Labor Agreement, “Upon <br />separation from employment with the City, Employees shall contribute their accrued vacation <br />to the RHS Plan.” Ms. Tatarek is authorized a vacation time payout totaling $7,751.63. This <br />is calculated as 249.65 times her hourly rate of $31.05. <br /> <br />Resolution 7775 also provides a payout of Ms. Tatarek’s sick time. In accordance with the <br />AFSCME Union Contract, “Employees who had completed ten (10) years of service as of <br />January 1, 2008 shall, upon separation, have earned the ability to contribute 65% of <br />remaining unused sick leave to the RHS Plan.” Ms. Tatarek is authorized a sick time payout <br />totaling $6,461.43 to her Retirement Health Savings Plan.
