www.ci.mounds-view.mn.us
5

Crime Prevention/Dare

Winter was another busy quarter for the Crime Prevention Unit. Officer Keckeisen
continued to teach the DARE program to over 100 5th graders at Pinewood Elementary
School. This program remains a popular and well received curriculum.

All regular duties continue to be performed by the crime prevention officer. These include
monthly alarm report monitoring, property manager coalition meeting attendance, weekly
distribution of the crime summary reports with prevention tips and school crossing presence
at all three area schools, both in the morning and afternoon hours. This particular detail,
with assistance from other available patrol officers, is highly appreciated by school staff and
families.

Quarterly Predatory Offender checks continued this quarter. Officer Keckeisen contacted
several offenders to confirm that their registration information is current and correct, and to
provide recent photos to the B.C.A. All predatory offenders in Mounds View are currently in
compliance with their registration.

Officer Keckeisen updated the multi-media presentation on the proactive programs provided
by the Mounds View Police Department that was scheduled to be presented at the
upcoming Mounds View Town Hall Meeting.

To help reduce criminal activity, and address specific concerns of citizens, extra patrol and
visual police presence was focused on several specific areas throughout Mounds View.

Training Report

Officers of the Mounds View Police Department attended the following training courses
during this past quarter:

• Low Light Firearms Shoot
• EMT Refresher
• Use of Force/Taser Refresher
• Crisis Intervention Team Training
• Automated Pawn System (APS) Training
• Krav Maga Defensive Tactics Training
• Effective Communication
• Principles of Emergency Management/Planning Capstone
• Leadership & Influence Capstone
