Mounds View City Council June 13, 2011
Regular Meeting Page 8

Council Member Gunn indicated the work being completed by MnDOT to reduce “bottlenecks”
on I-694 and 35W should improve the City’s air quality.

Council Member Hull and Council Member Mueller approved of the letter as is.

Council Member Gunn expressed concern that the letter was not presented in the proper manner
and would be seen as comments instead of questions.

Mayor Flaherty stated the City was expecting a response from the County based on the comments
and questions within the letter. City Administrator Ericson indicated the questions stated would
require a response.

Council Member Mueller noted Rosedale was in favor of the one-half of one percent increase in
sales to assist with funding the stadium.

The Council was in favor of moving forward with the letter.

City Administrator Ericson stated the City received information on a new performance
measurement program from the State Auditor’s office. The City could receive reimbursement if
it were to proceed with this program and a resolution of participation could be reviewed at the
next Council meeting. The estimated reimbursement was $1,700. He questioned how the
Council would like to proceed with this program, noting the City could complete the polling
without participating in the program as well.

Mayor Flaherty did not feel the reimbursement amount would cover the expense of the City to
gather the necessary information.

The Council was not in favor of participating in the performance measurement program.

City Administrator Ericson stated the employee appreciation event was held last week. He felt
the City has a wonderful group of employees.

C. Reports of City Attorney.

City Attorney Riggs had nothing additional to report.

12.
