<br />Item 07D <br />November 28, 2011, City Council Meeting <br />Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council at the November 7, 2011, Executive Session, <br />to compensate employees who opt out of the City’s health insurance at $200 per month, <br />effective January 1, 2012. This stipend will be reviewed and approved by resolution <br />annually by the City Council. <br /> <br />Employees may re-enroll in the City’s health insurance plan if a qualifying event occurs. <br />Qualifying events include: <br /> <br />a. Marriage or divorce <br />b. Birth or adoption of a child <br />c. Death of a family member <br />d. Lack of other coverage through no fault of the employee or subscriber <br />e. Change in hours, which results in change of employment status <br />Attached is the City’s Health Insurance “Opt-Out” Program Waiver Application for your <br />reference. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 7859, approving a 1.5% COLA adjustment <br />and a monthly insurance contribution of $917.33, effective January 1, 2012 for all non- <br />union employees.
