Ramsey lip
•County
ft. LIBRARY
Administrative Offices • 4570 North Victoria Street • Shoreview, Minnesota 55126-5863 • (612) 486-2200 • FAX (612) 486-2220
February 11, 1997
Mr. Duane McCarty, Mayor
City of Mounds View
2401 Highway 10
Mounds View, MN 55112-1499
RE: Mounds View Pedestrian Bridge and Walkway
Dear Mr. McCarty:
On behalf of the Ramsey County Library Board and the library staff, I want to reiterate our
support for the pedestrian bridge and walkway planned for Highway 10 at Long Lake Road.
In September 1996, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners and the Library Board
approved an easement for the southern landing of the bridge near the Mounds View Library.
• It is the goal of the County and the Library Board to make the County libraries as accessible as
possible to all County residents. This pedestrian bridge will provide additional access to the
Mounds View Library by providing a safer, more convenient access route to the library for
pedestrians on the north side of Highway 10.
In addition, this pedestrian bridge will provide safer and more direct access to the homes, schools
and businesses on either side of Highway 10. This proposed bridge benefits the community as
well as the Library and local businesses.
I hope you will reconsider your opposition to the proposed pedestrian bridge. This bridge is a '
much needed addition to this area that will benefit the Library, local business, and the citizens of
the City of Mounds View.
k.
Yours truly,
Marianne Roos, Director •
Ramsey County Library
CC: Commissioner Tony Bennett
Commissioner Jan Wiessner
III Mary Saarion, Director, Mounds View Parks and Recreation
Pamela Sheldon, Director, Mounds View Community Development
