PROCLAMATION <br /> DECLARING APRIL 6 - 12, 1997 AS • <br /> INTERNATIONAL BUILDING SAFETY WEEK 1997 <br /> Whereas, the safety of the buildings we occupy daily is essential to the health, safety and <br /> welfare of the citizens of our community and of the world; and <br /> Whereas, among the more significant laws and ordinances adopted by local governments, <br /> for the protection of their citizens, are the standards for the safe construction of buildings in which <br /> people live, work and play; and <br /> Whereas, for construction and building codes to be effective and enforced, u ;c re;a Id, <br /> and cooperation must exist between code officials and the people they serve; and <br /> Whereas, through the efforts of code officials in this community and throne <br /> world, and their cooperative relationship with the construction industry, the administration of <br /> these health an life-safety standards is assured; and <br /> Whereas, local governments as well as organizations as Building Officials and Code <br /> Administrators International, Inc., International Conference of Building Officials, Southern <br /> Building Code Congress Interntaional, Inc., Council of American Building Officials, and the <br /> World Organization of Building Officials are joining to promote the use of building and • <br /> construction codes today, for a lifetime of building safety. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Mounds <br /> View does hereby proclaim the week of April 6-12, 1997 as <br /> International Building Safety Week <br /> Adopted this 24th day of March, 1997. <br /> Duane McCarty,Mayor <br /> ATTEST: <br /> Charles S.
