171'1 OF iiIIIIIXIIS VIEW <br /> Office of the Mayor <br /> I'IgIICLAAMMATIIIN <br /> _ IltlIHIIaLE HIGH SCHOOL <br /> SILVER MEDAL TEAM AT STATE VICA CONFERENCE <br /> WHEREAS, nine hundred students from high schools and technical colleges across <br /> the state competed inleadership and occupational skill contests the weekend of April 4-6, <br /> 1997, and <br /> WHEREAS, the students, all members of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America <br /> (V.I.C.A.),competed in the Minnesota VICA Skill Conference; a state level competition for <br /> vocational students in trade, industrial technicaland health occupations; and <br /> • WHEREAS, VICA is_ a nationwide partnership of business andvocational industry, <br /> students and instructors; and <br /> WHEREAS, its goalsare to motivate students, teach leadership skills, assist teachers <br /> in producing quality workers to business and industry; and <br /> WHEREAS, a panel of over two hundred leaders served on technical committees to <br /> IIV prepare and administer the hands on competitions and were present to judge events;and <br /> • <br /> ` _ WHEREAS, the Irondale students placed second in the state for team competition in <br /> "Opening and Closing Business Ceremonies"; and - <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Mounds View would like to congratulate Irondale students: <br /> Angie Bainville, Nick Gullickson, Erik Nelson, Eric Norton,Krissy Rees, April Thomas and <br /> Travis Walker, in a very special way for being "Silver Medal Winners. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, Duane McCarty, Mayor for the City of Mounds View,do <br /> hereby proclaim Irondale students a "Silver Medal VICA Team." • <br /> Presented this 12th day of May, 1997. <br /> Duane W.
