EEN MOVIE THEATER <br /> AND OFFICE BUILDINGS FOR SECTION 7 OF THE PROPOSED I-?I " ''= ' <br /> REDEVELOPMENT PLAN <br /> WHEREAS, PER THE MOUNDS VIEW MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 40a.09, SECTION <br /> I , THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (EDC) SHALL CONFER WITH A.Ni'. /DVI <br /> AUTHORITY ON ALL MATTERS CONCERNING THE INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND <br /> REDEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY, AND <br /> WHEREAS, PER THE MOUNDS VIEW MUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 4c.m.•.• <br /> 6, THE EDC SHALL RECOMMEND ZONING CHANGES AND DEVELOPMENT OF AREA SUITABLE FOR <br /> INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND REDEVELOPMENT TO THE PLANNINQ C ,.s; ;SIGN, <br /> AND <br /> WHEREAS, THE ECC HAS REVIEWED THE ECONOMIC ADVANTAGES AND <br /> DISADVANTAGES OF LOCATING A I 6-SCREEN MOVIE THEATER AND THREE OFFICE BUILDINGS THAT <br /> • IS PROPOSED FOR THE VACANT LAND LOCATED IN SECTION 7 OF THE PROPOSED HIGHWAY I 0 <br /> REDEVELOPMENT PLAN, AND <br /> WHEREAS, THE EDC FINDS THAT THE PROPOSED USE WOULD INCREASE THE <br /> COMMERCIAL TAX BASE OF THE CITY BY APPROXIMATELY $ I 00,000; ADD NEW FULL <br /> . PART TIME JOBS AND CREATE A LARGE MULTIPLIER EFFECT BY BRINGING NEW CUSTOMERS TO THE <br /> AREA, AND <br /> WHEREAS, THE EDC VIEWS THIS DEVELOPMENT AS BENEFICIAL TO THE OVERALL <br /> ECONOMIC LIVELIHOOD OF THE COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES ALONG HIGHWAY I 0 AND WILL IMPROVE <br /> THE CHARACTER AND VISION OF THE CORRIDOR; AND <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br /> COMMISSION HEREBY SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF A I 6-SCREEN MOVIE THEATER AND <br /> OFFICE BUILDINGS FOR SECTION 7 OF THE PROPOSED HIGHWAY I 0 REDEVELOPMENT PLAN. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE ECONOMIC: <br /> DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION RECOMMENDS TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION THE APPROVAL OF A <br /> ZONING CHANGE FOR THE PROJECT. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT EVEN FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION RECOMMENDS THAT THE Cm' SUPPORT WORKING TOWARDS APPFICvAL <br /> FCR A SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION FOR THE PROJECT BUT NOT MAKE THE ZONING CHANGE <br /> fa <br /> CONTINGENT UPON RECEIVING APPROVALS FROM THE MINNESOTA CEPARTMENT OF <br /> TRANSPORTATION FOR THE STOP UGHT. <br /> Attachment 7 <br />
