The concern of the City of Mounds View is to continue to provide
a wide variety of housing choices for our residents without losing the quality of the housing stock.
Since the majority of housing in Mounds View was built in the 1950's, we are beginning to face an
aging housing stock. It is an issue that must be addressed now to prevent future problems.
When determining funding sources, we would Ince to see the Metropolitan Council provide
funding for preserving the housing stock as well as providing affordable housing. With an aging
housing stock, it is crucial to maintain the livability of the homes. We must provide affordable
housing that is safe, decent and sanitary. If homes are affordable but not safe, decent and
sanitary, we will face a Iarger problem in the future.
The City of Mounds View is delighted to participate in the Livable Communities Act for 1997 and
we hope that our recommendations for preset ving the current housing stock are given serious
consideration.
Sincerely,
CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW
•
Jennifer B- gman
E9using Inspector
WIT
SCYINK 2401 Highway 10• Mounds View, MN 55112-1499
n
