UNAPPROVED <br /> Page 7 <br /> • May 29, 1997 <br /> Mounds View City Council <br /> 1 Council member Stigney asked if the city would want to salvage the electronic coat rack to be used during <br /> 2 dances,etc.at the Bel Rae. It was noted that the area where the coat rack is currently located will be converted <br /> 3 into a day care room and the council asked Mr.Whiting to look into the feasibility of salvaging the rack for <br /> 4 another location. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 E. Discussion on the Demolition Bidding at the Bel Rae. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Mr.Whiting noted that the city accepted bids on a portion of the demolition work at the Bel Rae. He spoke <br /> 9 with the Construction Manager who indicated that he received three bids,none of which he feels are <br /> 10 satisfactory. They range in price from$29,000 to$159,000. He would like to extend the bidding period a <br /> 11 few more days. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Attorney Long explained that the city would need to officially reject all bids rather than extend the bid period <br /> 14 and then solicit new bids. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Trude to reject all bids submitted for demolition work at the Bel Rae property. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> 19 <br /> 20 MOTION/SECOND: Trude/Koopmeiners to authorize staff to proceed with the solicitation of bids for <br /> • 21 demolition work at the Bel Rae and to authorize the Mayor and Clerk Administrator to accept and enter into a <br /> 22 contract with the lowest responsible bidder so that demolition work can proceed. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Mr.Whiting noted that the City of Mounds View has been authorized to receive a grant from the Minnesota <br /> 27 Department of Children,Families&Learning in an amount not to exceed$375,000 to be used for youth <br /> 28 organized construction at the Bel Rae.
