Item No. 53H
Staff Report No. 91- ill
Meeting Date: 6-9-97
Type of Business: CA
WK: Work Session;PH:Public Hearing;
CA:Consent Agenda;CB:Council Business
City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Lynnette Morgan
Item Title/Subject: Approve Pay Eq ity Implementation Report and Authorize its
Submission to the Department of Employee Relations
Date of Report: June 5, 1997
Every three years the City is required to submitted materials in accordance with the Local
Government Pay Equity Act. In January 1996, the City submitted salary information based on
figures from December 31, 1995. Mounds View did not meet certain requirements, resulting in a
non-compliance ruling by the Department of Employee Relations. The City had a grace period
to meet the requirements and submitted a new report with salary information as of February 1997
which indicated the City passes the statistical, salary range and exceptional service pay tests. To
finalize the procedure, the City Council needs to approve the Pay Equity Report before being
sent to DOER.
iIt will be several months before the City is formally notified of the compliance results.
Recommendation: Motion to approve the Pay Equity Implementation Report and authorize its
submission to the Department of Employee Relations.
111
