The upgrade in audio equipment for the work sessions is <br /> necessary because the current system is not flexible enough to serve both the needs of the Council <br /> dias and large round-table settings. Because this upgrade was not budgeted, a budget amendment <br /> is necessary. There is sufficient funding in the Cable TV fund to transfer to the 1997 Cable TV <br /> budget. Through careful study of the costs of this upgrade, which included contacting seven <br /> audio/visual companies, it was found that the prices were basically the same for the equipment <br /> needed. The costs fell within a range+ and - $3 of each other. Because of this, I would like to <br /> purchase the work session upgrade equipment from a local/neighborhood company, Studio One <br /> Supply,Inc. in New Brighton. It should be know that Council member Stigney recommended the <br /> company and since the overall prices are competitive within each other and they are a local <br /> 4, business, I believe they should be the company for the job. An attached price list is included in this <br /> memo. <br /> Other equipment is also necessary to adequately produce and cablecast Mounds View <br /> programming. The prices of the following equipment were determined through studying the <br /> competitive market and choosing the lowest overall cost of each item. The Cable TV Commission <br /> evaluated current equipment and needs and has recommended the purchase of the following <br /> equipment to further assist in televising of city meetings and programs. <br /> * One Panasonic 456 S-VHS Camcorder. This will be used to primarily for field <br /> shooting,something we have doing more and an active component of city programming. <br /> Cost - $2,000 <br /> * (3)Nady Full Duplex Wireless Headsets for two camera operators and one control room <br /> producer so they can communicate to each other during City Council meetings. <br /> Cost - $295 <br /> * One Lowell Basic Light Kit for better lighting quality when using the City Hall facilities. <br /> Cost - $499 <br /> * One Vaco Audio/Visual Tool Kit and One Multipurpose Grip Tool for the maintenance <br /> • and repair of city AJV equipment. These are extremely important items to have for this <br /> department. Cost - $240 <br />
