it
Item No. 8
Staff Report No. 97-2148WS
Meeting Date 7-7-97
• Type of Business WK
WK: Work Session;PH:Public Hearing;
CA: Consent Agenda; CB:Council Business
Mounds View City Council
Work Session Staff Report
To: Mounds View City Council
From: Cathy Bennett, Director of Economic Development
Item Title/Subject: Request for Easement from NSP for Compost Site
Date of Report: July 3, 1997
The EDA received a request from NSP to grant a I 0 ft wide easement along the back side of 8283
Long Lake Road at an angle. (See attached map) The easement would be used to bring power to the
Ramsey County Compost Site for lights installed as part of the improvements made this year. The
suggested location of the easement runs at an angle because there is a large tree on the back side of
the property that they want to avoid moving.
The EDA purchased this property under the housing replacement program with the intention of
0 reselling the lot for the construction of a new single family residence. In discussion with community
development regarding the plans for this site it was suggested that we add a clause to the easement
agreement which would require NSP to move the easement, at no cost to the EDA, to run parallel
with the lot line in case the EDA was interested in subdividing this lot. Our thought is that if we ever
have the opportunity to purchase adjoining lots that it may be worthwhile to create a new subdivision.
Ill
