Commissioners reiterated their desire to keep community gardens <br /> a low cost, low labor intense activity that can make Woodcrest Park a <br /> benefit to the community. <br /> FESTIVAL: Director Saarion reviewed the budget to date indicating that sufficient <br /> monies had been received this year to pay for the 17 hour maintenance <br /> services of 2 workers plus 9 hours police officer services for 2 police <br /> officers. The maintenance time had usually come out of the parks budget <br /> in previous years and this year it will come from the Festival budget. This <br /> is the first year there has been enough money to pay for 2 police officers. <br /> The large contributor this year was the NB/MV Chamber of Commerce <br /> with a donation of$5,000 and the City of Mounds View with a donation of <br /> $4,000 along with local business donations. <br /> MVCT: Commissioner Silvis reported that the theater production of"Guys and <br /> Dolls" is coming along great with opening night Friday, July 18. Ticket <br /> sales are being taken. <br /> DEVELOPMENT <br /> PLANS: Director Saarion reported that Pam Sheldon,Director of Community <br /> Development asked the Parks and Recreation Commission to review a plan <br /> being submitted for the development of the D.W. Jones property which is <br /> located on the corner of Hwy 10 and Silver Lake Road. The plans are <br /> expected to be in Friday, July 11 and will be forwarded to the Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission for review. Review and recommendations by the <br /> Parks and Recreation Commission is requested before the next Planning <br /> Commission meeting and therefore staff is requesting the next Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission meeting to be the 3rd Thursday of July -July 17. <br /> While Gary Stevenson and Frank Silvis thought that they may not be able <br /> to attend a July 17, it was decided that it would important to provide <br /> recommendation to the Planning Commission and there was consensus to <br /> met on Thursday, July 17. <br /> PW <br /> PLAYGROUND <br /> UPDATE: Director Saarion updated the Commission regarding city assistance in <br /> facilitating reservations for Pinewood Playground. Commissioner Starr <br /> mentioned that she was disappointed that a girls basketball clinic did not <br />
