Call to Order <br /> Meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. Present: Whiting,Kessel, Saarion,Ericson, Ulrich, <br /> Ramacher, Sanchez. Absent: Zikmund and Hammerschmidt <br /> H. October 1, 1997 minutes were approved. <br /> Ill. Department Reports-Ulrich discussed a number of issues regarding street assessments <br /> and Whiting asked that a memo be drafted and presented to council members. Ramacher stated <br /> that we should remove the paint (or graffiti) off of a window at City Hall. Saarion volunteered to <br /> have the parks crew erase this with some solvent. Ramacher reported that Dave Brick will <br /> attend the next department head meeting to explain the Emergency Management Plan. Jopke <br /> discussed the issue of Kerry McCarty's expired building permit. An abatement order has been <br /> issued for incomplete construction, Whiting stated that he would speak to the Mayor. Whiting <br /> asked Saarion if the Special Work Session was taped at 5:00 PM. Kessel,Whiting, and Mayor <br /> McCarty met prior to the department head meeting and discussed the budget. Kessel <br /> summarized that the Mayor came up with a page of cuts and Council Member Stigney had a half <br /> 0 page of budget cuts. Whiting stated that he will copy the rest of council with this information. <br /> Saarion reported that council liasons to commissions are not calling their alternates when they are <br /> going to be absent. <br /> IV. New Business -Whiting reported that the move date is set for October 17. <br /> Administration/Finance/Community Development will be closed all day during the move. Parks/ <br /> Recreation and the Police Department will be open. Whiting stated that the City's phone system <br /> would now use an automated attendant to answer main the line. Saarion discussed that the <br /> Community Center would be in competition with the Mermaid for banquet facilities. Whiting <br /> added that competition is good and the city will need to develop its market niche. Bennett stated <br /> that Delcom was possibly interested in purchasing certain easements by the old water tower site. <br /> Bennett asked department heads to review the schematic plan for phase II of the Community <br /> Center. <br /> VI.
