1NEUtiTI0N , <br /> MANAGEMENT MEETING MINUTES - ONLY <br /> • Wednesday, October 29, 1997 @ 10:00 AM <br /> L Call to Order <br /> Meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. Present: Whiting,Kessel, Ulrich, Hammerschmidt, <br /> Bennett, Ramacher, Jopke,Zikmund and Sanchez. Absent: Saarion <br /> IL Three sets of minutes were approved. Oct. 8, 13, and 22, 1997. <br /> ILL Department Reports-Hammerschmidt reported that he has received three bids for <br /> driving range lights. Whiting stated that he would like this item to go to the council work session <br /> for November 3. Hammerschmidt reported that three to four blocks away on airport property, <br /> MAC/Hennepin County would like to build a golf course similar to the Bridges. They will <br /> formerly announce this in the papers next month. Hammerschmidt stated that he would like to <br /> stay one step ahead if they were to develop. Whiting stated that the area is developing into a <br /> golf-meca. Hammerschidt also reported that he will have a feasibility study done for a bar and <br /> small food area for the club house. Ulrich reported that he received a letter from NSP stating that <br /> after January 1, 1998, they will start and complete a gas and electric meter reading system on all <br /> homes. NSP is required to have radio dishes scattered throughout the city and the project will be <br /> completed by 1999. Ulrich reported that a resident while driving his vehicle slashed his tire on a <br /> raised storm drain grate on Quincy street. The claim will be turned over to the League insurance <br /> 4) company. Ramacher and Ulrich stated their concerns regarding the personnel handbook section <br /> regarding severance and sick leave policy. Whiting stated that department heads should gather <br /> their concerns and discuss them at the next department head meeting. Kessel reported that <br /> Internet E-mail addresses will be available this week and that the city needs to designate one <br /> computer for this. Election will be held Tuesday,November 4 and the Canvassing meeting will be <br /> held Wednesday, November 5 at 6:00 PM. Jopke reported that out of a pool of 20 candidates for <br /> the Housing Inspector position that they will interview four of them Thursday,November 30. <br /> Jopke stated that he will be talking with a council member regarding their fence. Bennett and <br /> Whiting reported on the Ring Road meeting. Whiting stated that it was an education process for <br /> the residents, staff and council. <br /> IV. Unfinished Business- Computer Status: Kessel stated that Multi-Tech is evaluating the <br /> firewall software that the city would consider installing. E-mail addresses were given to the cable <br /> company for Internet access. Kessel stated that if we switch operating systems will we look at <br /> purchasing Windows 95. Jopke stated that the Arc View software is in place. He said that a free <br /> stripped down version of Arc View called Arc View Explorer is available and may be useful to <br /> others in City Hall. Jopke said that they are evaluating what operating system and RAM upgrades <br /> may be necessary to best utilize the Arc View software. <br /> V.
