SUMMARY: After discussion with City Administrator, Samantha Orduno, regarding the initial expiration of terms for the first EDC members, it was determined that a amendment needed to be made to the Articles of the Economic Development Commission. The amendment would outline the term expiration dates for the first EDC members. The appointment of the EDC members can not formally be made until Ordinance No. 546 is adopted noting the change in the EDC articles. Therefore, attached for formal introduction tonight is Ordinance No. 546,which would amend The Mounds View Municipal Code, Chapter 408, Entitled "Economic Development Commission" with the addition to Section 408.03, subdivision 1 as follows: For the purpose of initiating the "Commission", the terms of all members shall expire December 31, 1994. Beginning January 1995, three members shall serve a one year term, two members shall serve two year terms and two members shall serve three year terms. Thereafter, The articles are scheduled to be adopted July 25, 1994 and take effect thirty days after the date of publication at which time the formal appointment of all new EDC members can be made. 0 Cathy Benne onomic Development Coordinator RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending that the City Council, on behalf to the EDA, introduce Ordinance No. 546 and schedule action on adoption for June 25, 1994. •
