Important
to the City of Mounds View was proposed guidelines governing the
development of long-range plans for the MAC's smaller airports - including
the Anoka County-Blaine Airport.
The proposed changes to the AC/B Airport include upgrading the airport from
a "minor use, reliever" airport" to an airport with "sufficient land
•
envelope to accommodate major capacity enhancing airside improvements. " The
Regional System Airports Study recommended that parallel runways be
developed at the AC/B Airport and an air traffic control tower be installed
"because much of the operational capacity shortfall identified for the
regional reliever system will be experience at this reliever system
airport. "
The members of the . Transportation Committee were reminded of the
stipulations of the July, 1986 Ramsey County Court Order (a result of a
lawsuit both against the Metropolitan Council and the Metropolitan Airports
Commission) which stated that MAC agreed to develop the AC/B Airport as a
"minor use" airport and to restrict the installation and use of any
instrument landin•_g-system or microwave landing system solely to the
east/west Runw. i No. 826 .
/i♦ ! / 4''i` -1
t
Samantha
Orduno, City Adminis rator
\ .
RECOMMENDATION:
Motion to Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution No. 4597 Deposing Runway
and Control Tower Development at the Anoka County-Blaine Airport
