Those concerns
relate directly to portions of the Reliever Airport Section of
the Development Guide.
Specifically, our concerns relate to Policy 6 on .page 11 of the
Development Guide. We believe that Policy 6, as it is currently
stated, emphasizes infrastructure for providing general aviation
facilities. We disagree with this approach. We believe that
the Metropolitan Airports Commission should first use financial
inducements making it more economical to use the reliever airport
• rather than the major airport. We therefore urge you to rewrite
Policy 6 and change its emphasis. A suggested revision is as
follows:
Policy Jiun bex •
.. c
The Metropolitan Airports Commission is urged to maintain
all of its reliever airports at a high level of operational
readiness. MAC should encourage better use of reliever
airports, to divert traffic from the major airport to the
reliever airports. Only when other avenues have been
exhausted should the Metropolitan Airports Commission
Printed on Recycled Paper
