contracts with Ramsey County for this service. This is one of the few public works services
that the county is extremely competitive. Bids for crosswalk painting are also being requested
at this time in preparation for the start up of school in a month or so.
The reconstruction of Pleasantview Drive was approved at the Council meeting on July 25,
1994. The contractor is on the fast track with this project, and is anticipating starting work
later this week or early next week. NSP will also be replacing the gas main in the area.
Staff is meeting with representatives from NSP and SEH to discuss the energy audit on
Wednesday, July 27. An entire city facility energy audit will be conducted in the following
weeks. Results could prove to be very interesting!!!
Staff met with Rocky Keene and Steve Campbell to discuss the permitting policy regarding
surface water issues on Monday. More updates will be available as the plan continues to
develop.
Mike
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
NORTHRIDGE VILLA CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN
John DeVries of Prime Builders has contacted Staff to let them know that construction on the
new Northridge Villa Condominiums is scheduled to begin the early part of next week.
Prime Builders was given City approval in June to develop the property adjacent to
Knoliwood Green with 22 owner-occupied condominiums. Staff will keep you updated on
the progress of this project.
MWCC BLAINE INTERCEPTOR PROJECT
Staff received a call this past week from a resident who lives in the vicinity of the Blaine
Interceptor project expressing concern over the disruption and construction schedule. Staff
tried to assure the resident that although the site is under heavy construction at this time,
MWCC has indicated to City Staff that every effort is being made to move the project along
at a rapid pace. Of the few calls that Staff has received on the project, most simply are
curious about what exactly is being done. City Staff will continue to work with MWCC (Jim
Hess, Engineering Aide, attends all weekly construction update meetings) to help avoid as
many adverse impacts on the adjacent property owners as possible.
Paul H.
