Quarterly Report - 2nd Quarter 1994 - Economic Development <br /> A ril• <br /> • Attended the weekend Strategic Planning Session <br /> • Attended a Blaine/Anoka County Airport Commission meeting with the Met Council. Expressed Mounds <br /> View's concern with expansion of the airport and reminded them of the court order restricting expansion of <br /> the Airport. <br /> • Prepared and distributed Press Release regarding Economic Development Coordinator position and Housing <br /> Intern position. <br /> • Met with four area Economic Development\Community Development Department's of the following Cities <br /> New Brighton, White Bear, Roseville, and Coon Rapids. These meeting were informative only and very <br /> useful regarding each City's economic development activities. <br /> • Met with four area business representatives including: <br /> 1. Sherri Timmons, Paster Enterprises regarding Mounds View Square <br /> 2. Jeff Hart, Kraus-Anderson regarding Silver View Plaza <br /> 3. Mark Malone, Western Bank and Ron Schmidt, Amoco regarding Business Association <br /> 4. Tim Nelson, Everest Development regarding Mounds View Business Park <br /> • Attended an Economic Development Association Breakfast meeting and a reception provided by the <br /> Collaborative, a networking group of entrepreneurs, sponsored by the Metro East Development Partnership. <br /> • Met with a representative from Bridgewater Financial regarding small business loans available in Minnesota <br /> • Gave a presentation to the Mounds View Business Association regarding the proposed economic development <br /> and marketing plans for the City. <br /> • Prepared drafts of the 5-year goals and 1994 work plan. <br /> May; <br /> • Met with four business representatives: <br /> 1. Richard Wolens regarding the City of Mounds View's activities <br /> 2. Ed Paster, Paster Enterprises regarding Mario's Movies and Games <br /> 3. Wolf&Associates regarding proposed expansion and assistance through state grant. <br /> 4. Local Restaurant owners regarding review of existing liquor license fees. <br /> • Presented development agreement which outlined the guidelines for further TIF assistance for Mounds View <br /> Business Park. The item was tabled at the request of Everest Development. <br /> • Attended four business forums including League of Minnesota cities annual legislative review, Metro East <br /> Development Partnership breakfast meeting to welcome new incoming President, Community Reinvestment <br /> Fund Program outlining funding sources for businesses and Economic Development Association monthly <br /> breakfast meeting <br /> • Gave Deborah Barkley of Metro East Development Partnership a tour of Mounds View commercial and <br /> industrial space. <br /> • Worked with the Community Resource Partnership to implement the North Metro Business Retention and <br /> Development Program which includes and extensive survey of Mounds View businesses. The program was <br /> funded per resolution No. 4566 on MAY 9, 1994. <br /> • Met with the Public Resource Group regarding funding sources and development proposals for businesses. <br /> June; <br /> • City of Mounds View became a member of the North Metro Business Retention and Development <br /> Commission per resolution 94-EDA8. <br /> • Established an Economic Development Commission as indicated by Ordinance 542. <br /> • Coordinate applications for members of the Economic Development Commission to include four residents and <br /> three business representative. <br />
