1995 PROGRAM/PERFORMANCE BUDGET <br /> DEPARTMENT Parks, Recreation & Forestry PROGRAM Adult Recreation Activities <br /> FUNDING SOURCE Participant fees <br /> The purpose of this program is to offer recreation activity <br /> PROGRAM PURPOSE opportunities for adults of the community, including Senior <br /> Citizens. Activities include adult athletic leagues, instructional <br /> classes such as golf, skiing, crafts, and dance, trips, senior citizen <br /> clubs, wellness programs, safety programs and other social programs such as bridge groups, garden club, <br /> etc. <br /> Adult recreation programs are funded with fees which covers the <br /> PROGRAM SUMMARY cost of instructors wages, umpires, and other staff in leadership <br /> capacities. In addition, participant fees cover the costs of supplies, <br /> equipment and materials used for activities. Service costs are also <br /> included in adult recreation fees for such things as field chalk, field maintenance services, and a portion <br /> of the Program Supervisor's salary. <br /> Objectives of this program is primarily offering <br /> 1995 PROGRAM OBJECTIVES opportunities for adults to enhance their quality of life <br /> through participation of recreational activities, to gain new <br /> friendships, to have fellowship with other with similar <br /> interests, to keep physically active, to learn new skills, and to pursue their talents through activities with <br /> others, and to participate in competitive and recreational athletic leagues. <br /> 1. A measure of quality of programs is through <br /> 1995 PROGRAM PERFORMANCE MEASURES the distribution and return of program <br /> evaluations. This will provide a good measure <br /> regarding the satisfaction of adult activities. <br /> 2. The amount of participation in a given program is also a measure of the attractiveness of a program, <br /> the satisfaction of service and enjoyment experienced in activities. <br /> 3. Adult athletics is a very competitive program and adults tend to "shop around" for the best program. <br /> Cost, condition of playing fields, league management and times and dates are factors which adult <br /> athletic participants consider when deciding on a program. Therefore a good measure of good <br /> marketing techniques is full leagues. <br />
